Specifically, it is very important to tell the anaesthetist about

  • any previous anaesthesia problems
  • any allergies
  • any history of pulmonary embolus (blood clot in the lung) or deep vein thrombosis (blood clot in the leg)
  • Any medications you are currently taking. This is important because some medications need up to 3-5 days clear from taking your last one prior to surgery taking place. If this doesn’t occur surgery may need to be postponed. Therefore, please ensure that you don’t miss anything from this list.
